Capital Campaign One Year Celebration 2009Wednesday, June 03, 2009

On July 3, 2009, the weather was beautiful and the music was lively. The day was perfect for a BBQ and a celebration for the St. Michael's Long Term Care Centre Capital Campaign one year anniversary. In just one short year we have raised a total of nearly $3.5 million towards our $6 million goal.
Politicians, businessman, family and friends gathered together to hear about the fundraising that has already been accomplished. Outstanding announcements and commitments were also made. Gifts were presented from Friends of St. Michael's Society of Edmonton in the amount of $50,000. President and CEO of Synergy Building Solutions announced a $100,000 contribution towards the campaign. The Alberta Health Services also presented a gift of $1 million to our Capital Campaign. Along with the gift from Synergy, they have agreed to work with St. Michael's in the rebuilding of the Long Term Care Centre.
Renovations are set to be started this September 2009. Other dignitaries present included Mr. Peter Sandhu, MLA for Edmonton Manning, Mr. Tony Caterina, City Councilor for ward 3, both of whom brought greetings from the government. Also in attendance, Mr. Ed Gibbons ward 3 city councilor, Mr. Doug Elniski MLA, Mr. Nolan Crouse Mayor of St.Albert, and Mr. Randy Palivoda Deputy Mayor of Spruce Grove.
