Adult Day Support Program
Located in St. Michael's Long Term Care Centre at 7404 - 139 Avenue.

The Adult Day Support Programs are designed to offer clients a variety of health services and structured social and recreational activities in a group setting. The programs are oriented to adults, who are often frail and living in the community. Services are tailored to the clients individual needs and can include rehabilitation therapy as well as to maintain a general level of good health. Clients registered in an Adult Day Support Program must attend a full five-to-six hour day on their scheduled day(s). Other services offered are nursing care, recreation, socialization, and respite for the caregiver.

Social Program

- Population
- Adults with physical/mild cognitive limitation who can access the program, which provides social interaction and/or respite care. This program can be accessed directly by the client or his/her family
- Cost: $27.50 / day
- Program is not time-limited as long as client continues to meet required criteria

- Foot care (fee applies)
- Limited personal care
- Respite for caregivers
- Blood Pressure monitoring
- Diabetic monitoring (as required. client provides supplies)
- Social activities
- General exercise class
Medical Rehabilitation Program

- Population
- For adults with cognitive/social/physical limitations who are living within the community.
- Cost: $15:72 / visit (subsidized by Alberta Health Services)
- Admission based on assessment and referral from Alberta Services
- Thisrehab program is subsidized by AB Health and clients are expected to be able to attend full registered day(s) and are continually assessed for improvement.
- Services Offered
- Nursing supervision
- Medication assistance
- Assessment by Occupational Therapist and one on one treatment as required
- Scheduled therapy program supervised by Therapist and Therapy Assistant; review of progress on a regular basis
- Physical therapy modalities offered are hot wax; cold pack; ultrasound; paraffin wax; muscle stimulation; TENS machines, walking program; general muscle stregthening; balance retraining; individual program treetment as needed.
- Assessment by multi-disciplinary team
- Structured level of physiotherapy or occupational therapy
