ATCO Gas Employees pitch in and volunteer at Long Term Care Centre

On Saturday, May 23, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. a group of 25 employees from ATCO ATCO Gas EmployeeGas, including President, Brian Hahn and his family, volunteered to help spruce up the court yard of St. Michael's Long Term Care Centre. Their corporate volunteer project was very timely as all of St. Michael's Long Term Care Centre's staff resources have been allocated to basement restoration due to the major flood we had in late December. This court yard would have otherwise been left unattended this year impairing our Residents' use and enjoyment of the patio.

ATCO Gas employees have also custom-built and donated 6 portable planters which can be accessed by the centre's wheel-chair bound Residents. This will alow the residents to partake in a gardening program and enjoy some outdoor recreation again.

Donated X-Ray Equipment to help the underprivileged in India

Friday, May 22, 2009 marked a special transfer ceremony as St. Michael's Health Group and the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove teamed up to help the underprivileged in India. St. Michael's donated a complete x-ray unit containing components from remote controllers to a stationary x-ray bed for a portable unit. If the items donated were to be purchased new, the value of the components would be over $100,000.

The Rotary Club of Spruce Grove looked after the shipping costs to send the valuable equipment to India. Once in India, it was delivered to a rural clinic where such equipment is not currently available. This equipment will make a tremendous difference in the lives of the sick and injured in that country and will give health practitioners in India the means to better diagnose and treat patients.
